Suzan Verberne investigated pulp news and its effects
Suzan Verberne is researcher on the edge of Natural Language Processing (NLP) and Information Retrieval (IR). Her research focuses is on text mining and retrieval in specific domains. She is an Associate Professor at the Leiden Institute of Advanced Computer Science (LIACS) and affiliated with the Data Science Research Programme of Leiden University.
At the This Will Be The News conference, Suzan spoke about her research on pulp news. Pulp news is news with little to none journalistic quality. Due to its clickbait nature, it is immensely popular on platforms like FaceBook. During the conference, Suzan showed us her research on the future of pulp and regular news.
