Journalism stands in front of major changes - and challenges. Through the internet, everyone is able to generate news. Even vloggers and bloggers are news sources. Traditional media such as newspapers, radio and television are therefore under pressure. These 'mainstream media' use innovative design as a counter-attack. There is a lot of experimenting with virtual reality and visual presentation forms such as infographics and data visualizations. At the same time, the reliability of news is under pressure due to 'fake news' via social media such as Twitter and Facebook. What role do designers play in this changing media landscape?
Design Matters is a bi-monthly live magazine about design in the broadest sense of the word: from social design to architecture and from fashion to interior. We talk to designers, editors, museum curators, producers and other relevant guests. Every edition focuses on a different theme.
